Mission Innovation: Accelerating CCUS

Mission Innovation was established as an outcome from COP21 in Paris, where the G20 Leaders came together with Microsoft’s Bill Gates to establish clean energy policy interventions. In 2017, Styring was a Panel Chair at the CCUS Workshop held in Houston, TX which produced a comprehensive report with policy recommendations for mitigation of carbon dioxide emissions through carbon capture and utilisation (other panels looked at storage options). The report was published by the US DoE and Saudi Arabia, Shortly before the UK and Mexico replaced the US as co-leads with Saudi Arabia.

One of the recommendations of the meeting and subsequent report was for utilisation of carbon dioxide to become a key feature of ACT programmes and to grow the number of nations contributing to the delivery of ACT2 and ACT3.
