Professor Peter Styring has a background in Chemistry before moving to Chemical Engineering in 2020. He is Professor of Chemical Engineering & Chemistry at The University of Sheffield and an Associate Fellow in the Understanding of Politics. He is a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and the Institution of Chemical Engineers (FIChemE), a Chartered Chemist (CChem) and a Chartered Engineer (CEng). His work is focused on all aspects of carbon capture and utilization (CCU) from chemistry to reaction engineering and life cycle and techno-economic analysis to policy development. Alongside this is general research into policies relating to air quality and the use of waste materials as feedstocks for the circular economy. Peter is also one of the management team of Sheffield:Air which looks at the environmental and health related effects of air quality.

Outside his research activities, Peter is an England Ski Coach (Moguls Performance and Development) and has coached many athletes who have gone on to compete internationally. He has also worked as a documentary director and producer and presenter on science related TV programmes. Peter plays a number of musical instruments and has built a studio at home where he has written soundtracks for the documentary films under a pseudonym of ……..
